Opal is the zodical stone for Libra. Is it bad luck to wear Opal
if you are not a Libra? This is not necessarily true. Opal is one gemstone that has an eerie ability to project
the wearer's energy back to the wearer.
Therefore, if you constantly harbor many negative thoughts wearing opal
will reflect the negativity back to you. Opal gives off strong vibrations. Should you try on some Opal jewelry
and it does not feel exactly right do not buy it. Opal is not a gemstone for you.
There are four basic types of Opal: white, black, transparent and common.
On the Mohs' Scale of Hardness from 1 - 10 (10 being diamond hard) Opal has a hardness of 6. Therefore, handle your
opal jewelry with care. Opal scratches easily, it should not be put into an ultrasonic jewelry cleaner and it can tend
to be water soluble.
Do not spray opal with any type of perfume, cologne, cleansing, hair spray or makeup product. Put on your opal
jewelry after you have finished getting ready.
Black and white opals are the most highly sought for jewelry.
Black Opal with red, violet and orange flashes is the most expensive to buy. Black and white opal can also
have yellow, green and blue flashes.
Fire Opal is an example of translucent opal. This is a less expensive
variety of opal that can also have brilliant and iridescent flashes depending on the cut of the beads. This
is also called Mexican Opal as it is primarily mined in Mexico. Fire Opal is energizing and helps with emotional recovery
after a disappointment in love or life.
The top picture on the left is an image of a milky pink common opal. As this type of opal has no flash it is only
added to jewelry when the beads are faceted to give an appealing color. This picture is an example of a more high quality
faceted common pink opal bead.
Chakra Information:
