To extend the life and lustre of your stones after each use please do the following:

Clean gemstone with hot, soapy water. Then dry stones with a soft towel.

Exceptions to this are lapis lazuli, selenite, halite, malachite and turquoise.  These gemstones are water soluble.  To clean use a damp cloth and immediately dry thoroughly.

Most stones can be cleaned in an ultra-sonic cleaner; a few can be permanently damaged if cleaned in one (amber, coral, lapis, opal, pearl and turquoise for example).

Store stones away from intense heat and light.

These gemstones are particularly sensitive to heat: amethyst, quartz, lapis lazuli, malachite, tourmaline and turquoise.

These stones are easily scratched - handle with care: celestite, malachite, rhodochrosite, flourite, apatite, lapis lazuli, sodalite, turquoise, hematite and moonstone.

Pieces made with sterling silver should be stored in a ziplocked plastic bag to retard tarnishing.

Alternatively, you can purchase anti tarnish plastic bags.
