Gemstone strands from top  to bottom:  Rainbow Moonstone,  Yellow Jade,  Green Jade,  Malachite,  Garnet,  Emerald and Lapis Lazuli.

Emerald

Emerald is a brilliant green member of the beryl family of stones.   The finest emeralds are true green, transparent with no hint of yellow or blue.

Emerald is associated with spring, healing and new life.  This precious stone was much beloved by the ancients because of it’s scarcity and beauty.  It is a gemstone of "unconditional love".    For best results, Emerald should be set in silver or copper.  Like many green stones Emerald can be useful while meditating.

Emerald is the gemstone for the 35th and 55th wedding aniversary.  Emerald's brittle nature makes it hard to cut.  The most successful gem cut for emerald is a rectangular shape which is popularly referred to as the 'emerald cut' even when used for other gemstones.

Emerald is more expensive than a similiar shape and size diamond due to the scarcity of large emerald lodes.

It is the Zodiacal stone for Taurus and it is a stone of Venus.

Garnet

Garnet comes in various colors of rich wine red and green.  Garnet is associated with constancy and fidelity.  It enhances body strength and endurance.

It also strengths the aura and promotes an atmosphere of positive energy.  Garnet lifts the spirits, warms the heart and energizes the body.

Garnet's name comes from the Greek word for pomegranate.  Therefore, this gemstone is associated with the myth regarding Persephone, daughter of Zeus and Demeter.  Per Greek mythology, Persephone was doomed to spend 1/2 the year living in the underworld with Hades since she had tasted three pomegranate seeds.

Garnet is the zodiacal stone for Capricorn.

Jade

Jade's most popular color is a deep, imperial green.  However, it is also mined in red and yellow and can sometimes be spotted with white.

Jade is a very lucky stone that also promotes peace, serenity, improves the memory and increases vitality.

Jade is considered a sacred stone that promotes love and altruism by aligning our subtle bodies (the distinctive energy fields about our body that uniquely characterizes ourselves and all living things).

Lapis Lazuli

Lapis Lazuli is a deep blue or violet-blue stone that is sometimes flecked with gold-colored iron pyrite.

Ancient Romans believed that lapis was a powerful aphrodisiac.  Give jewelry made with Lapis Lazuli to your mate to strengthen your marital bond.

In the Middle Ages, it was thought to keep the body healthy and the soul free from envy and fear.  It represents creative expression, intellect, spiritual awakening and mental clarity.

Lapis Lazuli is considered a stone of royalty.  Ancient Egyptian, Greek and Roman leaders have all been depicted wearing lapis lazuli.  They felt that wearing Lapis Lazuli attracted the beneficial power of their gods.

Malachite

Malachite is a green gemstone layered with different shades of green and found with copper.   It is known as the stone of transformation and has wonderful healing properties.  Because of the high copper content of this gemstone, it has a very steady pulsing electromagnetic energy field.

Malachite is said to absorb negative energy and cleanse  This balances the wearer and protect the wearer from absorbing negative energy.

Moonstone

Moonstone can be a translucent blue, white, peach, grey or pink gemstone.  This effect comes from it's alternating layers of orthoclase and albite feldspars.
