Making your own bathing salts is simple and fun to do.  Once you have purchased the needed supplies bath salts is one natural beauty product that only takes seconds to prepare.

The results will be velvety smooth skin and a enriched spirit.

Depending on the mixture of essential oils you chose, you will leave your bath feeling relaxed, refreshed, revitalized or any combination of the above.

First you must decide what type of salt you want to use.

  • Epsom salts contain magnesium which warms the body in a similar fashion to eating a hot pepper.  This is a great choice for a late evening bath as epsom salts will soothe the body.  Your joints and muscles will relax,  the rise in your temperature will cause you to release toxins thus preparing you for a restful night's sleep.
  • Dead Sea Salts are unique in that they contain a very high concentration of magnesium, potassium and calcium chlorides.  Because of these concentrations of minerals these salts are recommended for the treatment of psoriasis.  Dead Sea Salts have a low concentration of sodium which makes these salts less irritating to skin.
  • Sea Salts are any salts obtained from waters other than the Dead Sea.  Due to the fact that they are more easily obtained Sea Salts are less expensive than Dead Sea Salts.  They also are nurturing to the skin but do not have the high concentration of minerals found in Dead Sea Salts.
  • Desert Salts also do not have the high concentrations of minerals of Dead Sea Salts but are a good base carrier for essential oils and other botanicals.   You probably are familiar with the term borax.  Borax is a desert salt.
